A former award-winning communications consultant, Martina Byrne is chief executive of the Public Relations Institute of Ireland, the representative body of communications professionals in the public and private sectors.  

An experienced leader with over 30 years’ working with national and multinational organisations, Martina’s commitment to lifelong learning led her to return to university as a mature student and gain a Ph.D. from Trinity College Dublin where she later lectured. 

She also gained valuable research experience during her time with the ESRI, and she has a certificate in company secretarial law.
